Two methods give an answer rather than an estimate, and both are routine. A non-invasive prenatal test reads fragments of placental DNA circulating in the mother's blood and can be done from about nine or ten weeks. It looks for Y-chromosome sequences, so it is reporting on the chromosomes directly rather than inferring from an angle or a shape.
The anatomy scan at eighteen to twenty-two weeks is the other. By then a sonographer is looking at the genitals themselves, which is why its accuracy is not really comparable to anything on this page.
Everything above exists because those two dates feel a long way off when you have just found out. That is a good enough reason to enjoy a guess — it is only worth knowing which guesses have been checked, and what they were found to be worth. If you want one to play with, our Chinese gender predictor reads the chart properly and is honest about what it is.
